Internship Spotlight

Tiffany Norton Islas’ rewarding experience with the Senator Jim DeMint’s Charleston Office.

Tiffany Islas with Senator Demint"As an intern with the Senator DeMint’s Charleston Office, I worked with constituent Service Representatives; specifically, I aided in research, taking constituent calls, and database entry into the Senate IQ system. Having the opportunity to actively learn the day to day processes of a Senate office has been an extremely exciting and rewarding experience for me. As a political science major interning in a government office has also given me valuable insight on its inner workings and connectivity. Without a doubt, this will help me pursue my future goals of running for political office. Even though the internship is unpaid, the long term benefits of this experience will be of constant reward to me and I would highly recommend other students pursue an undergraduate internship in their area of interest." Tiffany Norton Islas, Class of 2009
