Carol Daugherty Rasnic is Professor Emerita of Business Law, Labor Law and International Law, Virginia Commonwealth University and Adjunct Professor of Law at Regent University Law School, College of Charleston, and Charleston School of Law. She is a six-time Fulbright Professor of Law (traditional Fulbright grants in Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Fulbright Specialist grants in Austria [two] and Hungary). She has served as visiting professor at university law schools in Austria (Graz, Innsbruck, and Linz), Germany (Augsburg, Hannover, Jena, Mainz, Regensburg, and Ireland (Griffith College Dublin and University of Limerick), and Swiss Business School. She has had several research grants at the Institute for Labor Law and Industrial Relations in the European Communities in Trier, Germany and at the University of Warwick (Coventry, England) law school (2018). She was a recipient of the Professor Sir Neil MacCormick Fellowship for research at the University of Edinburgh School of Law (spring, 2012).

Professor Rasnic has been admitted to the bars of Tennessee and Virginia and has practiced law in both states. She has worked as in-house corporate counsel and as a state (Virginia) administrative law judge. She is the author of three books and over 160 law journal articles, book reviews, and/or monographs and is a current or past member of the American and Virginia Bar Associations, the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the International Society for Social Security and Labor Law, the Society of Legal Scholars, the Socio-Legal Studies Association, the Congress of International Legal Scholars, the Irish Association of Law Teachers, the Irish Legal History Society, the International Institute of Law and Medicine, and the Thomas More Society.
