2021
Max Bisaha ’21 is working on an organic farm in western North Carolina. (April, 22)
Ian Braddock ’21 started law school at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Fall 2021. Ian is the incoming Chief Intelligence Analyst for the Yemen Accountability Project - https://case.edu/law/centers-institutes/cox-international-law-center/yemen-accountability-project. He is a contributing member of the white paper that was just published: Russian War Crimes Against Ukraine: The Breach of International Humanitarian Law by the Russian Federation - https://syrianaccountabilityproject.syr.edu/docs/russian-war-crimes-against-ukraine-the-global-accountability-network.pdf, and he continues to run the nonprofit he started, Veterans Nexus Foundation - https://www.veteransnexus.org (April, 22)
Katie Hill ’21 has been working as a foster care case manager with Charleston County DSS since graduating in May 2021. She will be attending the University of Alabama School of Law on a full tuition scholarship in the fall to pursue a career in family and children’s advocacy law. (April, 22)
2020
Erik Cronell, ’20 is grateful to be working as a database administrator for Huffman Associates, LLC, an executive search firm based right here in Charleston. He is currently pursuing entry level A+ certification through CompTIA to (hopefully) open a few more doors in the realm of information technology, a field he loves. Erik reports that the most important skill he learned at CofC was to think critically, and credits Dr. Creed (especially) for his tutelage in developing this life-skill at a time when it is so needed in our society. Patrick Crotty ’20 is pursuing his master’s degree at Duke University in Analytical Political Economy and hopes to pursue a career in economic or policy consulting after he graduates. He credits his success in being accepted into Duke to double-majoring in economics and political science while at CofC, and credits the political science major, in particular, for his ability to write well and “consider problems from a variety of perspectives.” (September, 2020)
Brooke Faulkner ’20 is working at Jones Trading and training to become a stock broker. She is applying to law schools on the east coast and hopes to gain admission by fall of 2021. She credits her early success in the finance industry to strong skills learned in our program, especially how to think critically and write well. She encourages others to keep their options open when considering careers and not focus so much on the major, but what interests you instead. (September, 2020)
Sofia Troya Zambrano ’20 spent the summer of 2020 as an intern with The Nature Conservancy and has now returned to campus to complete a master’s in Environmental Studies. Her advice to younger students is to take part in as many internship opportunities as possible, as they will “open your eyes to the type of jobs you may want – or more important – the type of employment you DON’T want.” Also, explore many different classes while at CofC, as they will help you “discover what you are truly passionate about.” (September, 2020)
2019
Caroline Bracken ’19 recently transitioned into a new role as a consultant at Guidehouse. Caroline works in Guidehouse's National Security Segment, supporting the work of government clients. (April, 22)
Alexandra Helfgott ’19 works at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, researching and publishing on global critical minerals and semiconductor supply chains, the geopolitics of energy, and the US-Mexico bilateral relationship. Prior to this, she was a Fulbright García Robles English Teaching Assistant in Mexico City and Guadalajara, Mexico. (April, 22)
Joseph McGuire ’19 is currently serving as a distance tutoring coordinator, in his second year with AmeriCorp (in Charleston) working with Reading Partners, an early childhood education non-profit. He is also preparing to take the GRE so he can pursue his master’s in political science. (September, 2020)
Stephanie Selker ’19 is currently employed at Zapp, a German company in Summerville, SC, where she gets to use her major in German every day. Although she is not working in the field of political science, Stephanie says she uses the knowledge she gained in her political science classes every single day and credits her professors, especially Dr. Curtis and Dr. Creed, with her ability to analyze both sides of any issue. Her advice to new students is to “not be afraid to try out that class/club/event/etc. that you’re interested in because you have no idea where that experience will lead you.” (September, 2020)
2018
Sarah Nesbit '18 has just accepted a position as a political organizer for Elizabeth Warren's 2020 presidential bid and is excited about her upcoming move to New Hampshire. She is currently pursuing dual graduate degrees at NC State's Poole College of Management in Global Luxury and Management and just returned from four months at the Skema Business School of Paris as part of her curriculum. Daniel Miles ’18 has been teaching English as a Second Language in Mexico at The Anglo, a school/cultural organization run by the British government. He begins a master’s program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico to study US-Mexico Bilateral Relations later this month. (September, 2020)
Ellie Thomson ’18 is currently working remotely as an account executive for kglobal. Ellie spent a semester interning for them in Washington, DC during the fall semester of her junior year, and is excited to be returning to DC in November – “just in time for another election season!” She says she uses the skills we taught her every day on the job – strategizing, writing pitches, communicating with reporters, etc. – and says it’s basically just “one big, extended group project!” (September, 2020)

Cory Nelson ’17 is pursuing a master’s in International Security at George Mason University. He plans to graduate in 2020. (February, 2018)

Natalie Le ’16 works as a policy and communications associate at the Independent Women's Voice and is pursuing a master of liberal arts in government at Harvard University. In addition, she is the proud recipient of a Frederic Bastiat Fellowship from George Mason University. (May 2019)
Joseph Quisol, M.Ed. ’16 is a Co-Director of Arts Connect International, a nonprofit organization focused on leadership development and cultural equity based in Boston, MA. Joseph works digitally with the global team from his home in Mooresville, NC. He also just released an 8 track album called Dreamworld, which is a blend of acoustic and electronic music with singer-songwriter sensibilities. (April, 22)
John-Anthony Thevos ’16 is working as a backend software engineer for Octopus Energy in the renewable energy sector. Octopus has just partnered with Generation Investment Management, a $36 billion sustainable investment fund, founded and chaired by Al Gore. John-Anthony is currently enrolled in a Computer Science Master's degree program at College of Charleston focusing on cyber security. He also serves on Porter-Gaud School's Alumni Association Board and co-chairs the board's Diversity Equity and Inclusion subcommittee. (April, 22)
MaryKate Trainor ’16 is an associate immigration attorney with Bailey Immigration, an immigration defense firm in Portland, Oregon. She handles asylum, cancellation, withholding and marriage cases. MaryKate asserts that she is “definitely using what I learned in my Poli Sci major” to inform her work in international relations and events, immigration law and asylum casework. (April, 22)
2015
Master Bines ’15 is an experienced and trusted real estate advisor in residential and commercial spaces with Exp Realty in Charleston, SC. Master has done more than 1.3 million dollars in commercial sales and is fervent about continuing education in the field. Master is also a sales rep for Apricot Solar and educates homeowners on how to save money using solar panels. Master is a current member of the North Charleston Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Community Development Corporation. He serves on the South Carolina Realtor Professional Standards Committee. Carra Pope ’15 received her JD in 2019 from Brooklyn Law School, specializing in cybersecurity law. She then attended Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, graduating with her Graduate Diploma in Cybersecurity. Upon returning from Australia in 2021, Carra accepted a position as a Cybersecurity & Privacy Compliance Analyst with Panasonic Avionics. (April, 22)
David Ruwadi II ’15 worked in tech right out of college, but later decided to change paths. He graduated with a MS in 2021 in Computer Science at Fordham University in NYC and now works as a Software Engineer at SeatGeek in NYC. (April, 22)
Virginia Whorley ’15 is graduating with her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in May. This fall, she will be joining the Political Law Group in the D.C. office of Perkins Coie LLP as a junior associate. (April, 22)

Hunter Adams '14 received his J.D. from American University's Washington School of Law in 2017 and joined the law firm of Baker, Ravenel & Bender L.L.P. in Columbia, SC. He practices in the areas of automobile liability, civil litigation, premises liability and insurance coverage. (May, 2019)
Shana Sue Smith 14’ received her J.D. from Charleston School of Law in 2021 and joined the law firm of Costa Honeycutt, LLC in Charleston, South Carolina. She practices in the areas of Insurance Defense focusing primarily on Construction Litigation. (Nov. 2022)

Amanda Durham Turner ’13 is a paralegal at the Charleston County Attorney’s Office. She gained certification as an Advanced Certified Paralegal through NALA (2014) and became a South Carolina Certified Paralegal in 2016. She serves as a Board Member for the SC Board of Paralegal Certification. (November, 2017)

Dustin Hayes ’12 is an employer and public relations officer at Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union in Charleston, and recently became a member of the 2018 Board of Directors for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. (February, 2018)

Andrea DeSantis '11, is the assistant director of research at the NC State Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research in Raleigh, NC. She is also a doctoral candidate in Education Policy, Leadership and Human Development at NC State University. Her work centers around community college policy including issues of access, completion and transfer. (November, 2020)
Brittany “Brooks” Graham ‘11 received a M.Ed in Divergent Learning from Francis Marion University in 2015 and is now Assistant Principal at KIPP Jacksonville-Voice Elementary in North Jacksonville, FL. (January, 2018)

Zachary Craig Hanson ’10 is a global customer experience and product management expert who has worked at two of the world’s premier artificial intelligence companies: Pypestream and IBM Watson. His first book, The Art of Being Artificially Intelligent: A Millennial’s Guide to Faking It Till You Make It, was published in November, 2017. (January, 2018)
Erin Hickey ’10 of West Sacramento, has been appointed Deputy Secretary of Communications at the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency. Hickey has been Capitol Director at the Office of Senator Ben Hueso since 2021, where she was Communications Director from 2017 to 2021. She was a Legal Assistant at Hellman, Yates & Tisdale, Attorneys and Counselors at Law from 2011 to 2017. Hickey was a Consultant at the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance from 2009 to 2017. She was a Government Programs Specialist at Benefitfocus from 2009 to 2010, where she was a Corporate Communications Specialist from 2008 to 2009. Hickey earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Charleston School of Law. (April, 22)

Samuel Ray ’09 founded Colla & Ray LLP, a boutique land use law firm in San Francisco, CA, which specializes in assisting clients who operate in the nightlife, entertainment and cannabis industries. (April, 22)
Anne Thorsen ’09 is a Director of Business Partnerships for the Data & Analytics group at Bon Secours Mercy Health. Anne helps to drive clinical and operational improvements across the health system and its vast network of partner organizations through data & analytic capabilities and insights. (April, 22)

Katie Kent ’07 is a Chief Inspector with the United States Marshals Service based out of Northern Virginia. She heads the Financial Surveillance Unit tasked with hunting down the most dangerous and hard-to-find fugitives in the country. Katie lives in Alexandria, VA with her daughter Ryan, who is 8 months old. (April, 22)

Jenny R. (Moser) Stevens ’07 has returned to solo practice as the Owner and Attorney at The Stevens Law Group, LLC a family law firm based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. After spending 9 years practicing with her husband and law partner, Ben Stevens at The Stevens Firm, P.A. (6 years as the Managing Partner), she has returned to her first passion of providing private Guardian ad Litem and Mediation services for complex child custody cases across the state. She is active in her local and state bar associations, as well as her community, serving on the Board of Hub City Writers Project. Jenny plans and moderates the annual GAL Training CLE for the SC Bar. She has written and edited The SC Bar Guardian ad Litem’s Toolkit published by the SC Bar CLE Publications Division with the most recent edition being released in November 2021. Jenny continues to enjoy life in the upstate with her husband and their children. (April, 22)

Ryan Billings ’06 received his Master of Arts in Teaching from Otterbein University in 2013. For the past 9 years, he has been teaching sixth-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies, while also coaching JV girls’ basketball outside Columbus, Ohio. David Brazeau ’04 is the Director of Merchandising for Gildan, a Canadian manufacturer of basic apparel. He is a member of the company’s Retail Division based out of Charleston, working with key accounts like Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Target Stores. David and his husband Rickie live in the Cooper Estates neighborhood of Mount Pleasant with their son, Wells. (April, 22)
Alicia Scherini Hall ’04 is in-house counsel with Entergy, a Fortune 500 company. She is a member of the company’s legal regulatory team based out of Jackson, Mississippi. She sits on the boards of several bar associations, including as the 2017-2018 president of the Jackson Young Lawyers. Alicia and her husband Seth live in the historic Fondren neighborhood of Jackson with their two children. (January, 2018)

Hunter Adams (2014) is attending American University's Washington College of Law.
Pious Ahuja (2010) is attending American University Washington College of Law and also pursuing a Masters with the School of International Service since Fall 2012. She interned wit the Navajo Nation Chief Prosecutor's Office and interned at the Human Rights law network in New Delhi, India working on an acid attack case.
Courtney Alexander (2014) is working as a Field Director on U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy’s Campaign for U.S. Senate.
Lauren Avioli (2012) is working as an Environmental Planner, CP & Y, Inc. Completed her Masters of Urban Planning Program at the University of Texas in Austin.
Chantelle Berman (2014) is attending graduate school at IDC Herzliya, Israel for a Masters in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security.
Matthew Boatner (2014) is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.

Caroline Kenny (2015) is a Digital Producer for CNN Politics, based in the Washington, D.C.. bureau. In August 2016, she graduates from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University with a master's in journalism.
Danya Kiernan (2014) has a fellowship for Summer 2014 with community water solutions in Ghana. Next year she will be part of a teacher’s assistant program in Grenoble, France teaching elementary school students.

Jenny Powell (2014) is working in Portland, ME in community outreach and environmental NGO work.
Helen (Van Wagoner) Rosemont (2007) spent five years with the U.S. Department of State as a Political Officer in the U.S. Foreign Service. She now lives in the United Kingdom and works with the British Red Cross supporting refugees in South East England.
Helen Rosko (2010), GIST Research, Oak Ridge Laboratories. Served in the Peace Corp service as a Water Extension/Sanitation Agent for a rural village, 2 days travel from Bamako, Mali.
Sarah Sheafer (2014) is volunteering for 10 months with the Tikkun Olam (“repairing the world”) program. There, she will be teaching Arab women English and working in community centers with children. She will also be visiting and volunteering with organizations that promote coexistence and peace in the region. Upon completion, Sarah will be attending graduate school to study Peace and Conflict Resolution and Prevention.
Sarah Silberstein (2014) is teaching English in Italy to high school students and living with a host family.

Kelsi Ward (2010), is a Program Specialist - ECA Cultural Programs Division, US Department of State. She completed her Peace Corp service in August 2012. She spent her time in the peace corp working in health promotion, educational advancement and community development in rural Peru.
