Local Internships
Internship opportunities come to us from a variety of organizations, and are typically included in our weekly newsletters which are emailed to students every Friday. We do not pre-screen these requests. Please practice due diligence in evaluating these opportunities. The Career Center’s website contains details on things to consider when evaluating an internship.
More internship opportunities can be found on Handshake, the Career Center's jobs database.
For more information or help with your search, contact Kristin Wichmann, the Career Center's Experiential Learning Coordinator.
Be proactive and reach out to organizations who share your interests and see if they are recruiting interns or volunteers. The Charleston area has many nonprofits who would be grateful to have your help. We keep an active list of them here: Charleston Area Nonprofits
The Charleston County Public Defender's Office is often recruiting for interns. Send your resume and cover letter to Attorney Katherine Mangan at kmangan@charlestoncounty.org. If you qualify and there are positions available, she will contact you.
If your interests lay in local government, go to Charleston Government - all departments are listed under the heading "Government."
